Cristiano Ronaldo sends emotional message as Portugal are confirmed as World Cup 2030 co-hosts

Cristiano Ronaldo has sent out an emotional message following Portugal's confirmation as World Cup 2030 co-hosts.

FIFA announced on Wednesday that Portugal, Spain, and Morocco will co-host the 2030 World Cup. The announcement comes as no surprise, given that the combined offer was the only one presented. The tournament's first three matches will take place in Uruguay, Argentina, and Paraguay to commemorate the competition's centennial, before returning to Europe and North Africa.

The news has been enthusiastically received in Portugal, with Ronaldo plainly overjoyed. The Al-Nassr great is expected to participate in the World Cup in 2026, despite the fact that he would be 41 years old at the time, and thinks it would be a dream to see his country granted the 2030 edition of the prestigious game.

He posted on Instagram, "A dream come true." Portugal will host the World Cup in 2030 and make us proud. Together!"

FIFA also declared that the 2034 World Cup will be contested in Saudi Arabia, where Ronaldo presently plays for Pro League team Al-Nassr.

Ronaldo has won a European Championship and a Nations League trophy with Portugal, but he has never hoisted the World Cup. He may attempt one last time in 2026, when the event will be held in the United States, Canada, and Mexico.
