Alejandro Garnacho told he Ccan leave Manchester United as Ruben Amorim plans summer overhaul
Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim has informed Alejandro Garnacho that he is free to leave Old Trafford this summer, amid growing tensions between the Argentine winger and the club’s coaching staff. The conversation reportedly took place on Saturday at United’s Carrington training ground, though the club has declined to comment publicly on the matter.

Garnacho, 20, has had an increasingly strained relationship with Amorim throughout the season, culminating in a controversial decision to bench him for the majority of United’s Europa League final defeat to Tottenham. The Argentine international, who featured in every round leading up to the final, was brought on for only the final 20 minutes of the match—a move he publicly questioned after the game.
"I played every round to help the team reach the final, and today I only got 20 minutes. I don't know. I'm going to try to enjoy the summer and see what happens next," Garnacho said in a post-match interview in Bilbao.
The forward's discontent was echoed by his brother and agent, Roberto Garnacho, who criticized Amorim on Instagram, accusing the manager of "throwing him under the bus." The social media outburst followed a pattern of behavior that has concerned United officials, including a similar incident in February when Garnacho posted a disappointed reaction after being substituted against Ipswich Town.
Despite these controversies, Garnacho remains one of United's most promising young talents. However, the club is now open to accepting offers in the region of £60-70 million—a figure that would represent a full profit under UEFA’s Financial Fair Play (FFP) regulations, given the winger’s homegrown status.
Napoli submitted a bid for the Argentina starlet in January, which was promptly rejected. However, with Amorim now looking to reshape the squad and potentially facing the departures of key players like Bruno Fernandes—who is mulling a £200 million move to Saudi Arabian side Al-Hilal—United may opt to cash in.
Speaking ahead of United’s final Premier League match of the season against Aston Villa, Amorim remained non-committal about Garnacho’s inclusion in the squad or his role in the club’s upcoming post-season tour of Malaysia and Hong Kong.
“We have a plan,” Amorim said. “We were prepared for both situations—Champions League and without. We have an idea of the squad we want, but we still have the last game. We will address all these situations after the season ends.”
The manager also emphasized the importance of maturity and perception at a club the size of Manchester United, referencing Garnacho's earlier behavior.
“At Manchester United, everything is important. Perception is really important. Social media adds pressure and exposure. Garnacho needs to understand that,” Amorim said, recounting an earlier disciplinary episode in which the winger apologized by offering to buy dinner for the entire team.
As speculation mounts, Garnacho's future remains uncertain, but one thing is clear: Manchester United are willing to listen to offers. Whether the Argentine chooses to stay and fight for his place or departs in search of a fresh start could be one of the defining stories of United’s summer transfer window.
