Fabrizio Romano: 'Manchester United 'Want to Sell Star' After What Happened v Arsenal'
Manchester United are reportedly eager to part ways with striker Rasmus Hojlund following his omission from the squad for Sunday’s clash against Arsenal, according to football journalist Fabrizio Romano. The club is pursuing an exit for the Danish forward before the transfer window closes, considering both permanent transfers and loan options with a buy clause.
Manchester United are seeking to sell Rasmus Hojlund before the transfer deadline. AC Milan and other European clubs are reportedly in talks for a loan or permanent deal.

The Red Devils are understood to be asking for a €6 million loan fee for Hojlund, with an option to buy set between €40 million and €45 million. AC Milan is among the European clubs monitoring the situation, with additional interest expected from other top-tier teams.
Hojlund faces a challenging path to regular playing time under Ruben Amorim, particularly following the arrival of Benjamin Sesko, who replaced the Dane in the squad for the 1-0 defeat to Arsenal. Sesko made his Manchester United debut off the bench, substituting Mason Mount in the second half.
Romano highlighted the urgency of United’s plans on his YouTube channel, emphasizing that negotiations for Hojlund’s transfer or loan are imminent:
“Rasmus Hojlund [was] out of the squad and we know that Manchester United are trying to find a solution for him. They want Hojlund to go. They want to sell Hojlund as soon as possible. If a sale is not going to be possible, they want to do a loan with an option to buy – 6 million euro loan fee, an option to buy around 40-45. So negotiations will now follow for Rasmus Hojlund, with interest from AC Milan and more clubs around Europe, not only Milan.”
The 22-year-old striker was also left out of United’s final pre-season friendly against Fiorentina on August 9, signaling that his tenure at Old Trafford may be coming to an end. Hojlund managed 10 goals and four assists across 52 appearances in all competitions last season.
Hojlund joined Manchester United from Atalanta for £72 million in the summer of 2023 and has three years remaining on his contract, which runs until June 2028. The club continues to explore options to offload several first-team players before the transfer deadline, with Tyrell Malacia reportedly in negotiations with Roma.
