‎Manchester United Agree Andre Onana Loan Transfer to Trabzonspor After Senne Lammens Arrival

‎Manchester United have reached a verbal agreement with Trabzonspor to loan goalkeeper Andre Onana, according to Fabrizio Romano. The Turkish transfer window remains open until September 12, allowing the Super Lig side to finalize the deal within the coming days. The move requires Onana’s approval before completion.

‎Trabzonspor’s interest in Onana comes after the departure of long-serving captain Ugurcan Cakir, who joined Galatasaray earlier this summer for €36 million (£31m/$42m). With a major gap in their squad, the club identified the Manchester United goalkeeper as a leading candidate to take over as first choice.
‎Onana’s time at Old Trafford has taken a difficult turn. He was not included in Amorim’s opening three Premier League line-ups and only appeared in the EFL Cup defeat to Grimsby Town. The signing of Senne Lammens from Royal Antwerp for £18m ($24m), alongside Altay Bayindir’s presence in the squad, pushed the Cameroonian further down the pecking order.
‎The goalkeeper’s position also became strained due to contract disputes. Onana, who still has three years remaining on his deal, was among the players who faced a 25 percent wage cut following Manchester United’s failure to qualify for the Champions League. Reports from The Athletic suggest he sought improved terms instead, creating friction with Amorim and the club’s hierarchy.
‎Most European transfer windows are now closed, leaving limited options for the player. Turkey’s extended deadline provides an opportunity for Onana to secure playing time and regain form. Should the move proceed, responsibility in goal will shift to Lammens and Bayindir, both of whom are under pressure to prove themselves to the fans and coaching staff.
