Tyrique George's Deadline Day Transfer to Fulham Collapses as Chelsea Retain Wonderkid
Chelsea wonderkid Tyrique George will remain at Stamford Bridge after his proposed deadline day transfer to Fulham collapsed at the final stage.
Fulham had been prepared to pay £22 million ($30m) for the 19-year-old forward, with Chelsea negotiating a sell-on clause that could have ensured future financial benefit. Talks between the two London clubs were moving forward, but the deal broke down in the closing moments of the transfer window, according to Fabrizio Romano.

George has now returned to Cobham and is set to feature in Chelsea’s 2025-26 UEFA Champions League squad. The academy graduate made his senior debut in August 2024 during a UEFA Conference League play-off against Servette. Last season, he registered 26 appearances across all competitions, with most coming in Europe as Enzo Maresca rotated his squad.
Chelsea’s transfer business also included several notable exits. Nicolas Jackson, Christopher Nkunku, and Joao Felix all departed the club during the summer window as part of Maresca’s extensive rebuild.
Following a busy summer of restructuring, Chelsea aim to push for the Premier League title this season. Their next fixture will be against Brentford on September 13.
